Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay at Podere Calcinaia, located just a short drive from Castelnuovo Berardenga, I was enchanted by the rustic charm and serene beauty that define this gem of a boutique hotel. As I traveled with my family, we found the accommodations to be exceptionally comfortable, with our room featuring a private bathroom and stunning views of the rolling Tuscan hills. The darkness of the room allowed us to indulge in leisurely mornings, accidentally sleeping in until 11:30, which turned out to be a delightful luxury we cherished after a week of more rigid schedules. The communal kitchen and spacious living room, tastefully adorned with parquet floors, offered a welcoming atmosphere where we felt right at home, perfect for families like ours who enjoy the simplicity and warmth of shared experiences. We also thoroughly enjoyed the delightful company of the resident cats and dogs, which added a touch of whimsy to our stay. One evening, we took advantage of the beautiful garden with its patio and wood-burning oven to savor some local wine - not to mention the breathtaking views that enhanced our alfresco dining experience. Podere Calcinaia provided us with the best night's sleep we've had throughout our travels in Italy, blending the essence of Tuscan hospitality with modern comforts, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to immerse themselves in both relaxation and the rich heritage of this picturesque region.
